Rodney is a great DJ that really knows how to read the crowd. He DJed our wedding and I couldn’t be happier. We really wanted to get people dancing, and he managed to keep the dancefloor full all night! Everyone from teenagers to retirees were up and moving!
Not only is he an outstanding DJ, Rodney is also the top band booker in the area. We didn’t think we would be able to afford both live music and a DJ, but Rodney was able to work out out so that we had a rockin band (plus a guitarist for the ceremony) for a great price, as he was able to book them another late night gig after the wedding to cover their travel costs and stuff up from LA.
On top of all that, the morning of the wedding we realized we needed some additional equipment for the reception and Rodney was able to source it locally for a very reasonable price, and then he personally set it up pro bono!!
100% would reccomend Rodney.

DJ Rodney is the absolute best! We talked to so many DJ’s during our wedding planning process and just weren’t thrilled with anyone of them. We happened to meet Rodney as he was DJing at the Mill Cafe in Mammoth one day. We were drawn to his music and good energy and asked if he did weddings, and lucky for us he had our wedding date open, as he is super busy and only does a couple weddings a year. During the entire process, Rodney had amazing communication with us, he was so on top of it, checking in with us periodically, and responding to us right away every time we had a question. We got our music selection to Rodney super last minute and he still nailed everything we asked for! He Dj’d our wedding ceremony and reception, and just did an overall incredible job. We gave him a lot of musical freedom as we only picked specific songs for a couple moments, and he did an excellent job filling in the rest, reading the crowd, keeping the dancing going, and keeping the vibe exciting and energetic. Also, the additional lighting set up he has is so awesome, once it was dark and the dancing really started going off, it was a great addition to the room. We cannot be more thankful for DJ Rodney, he made the day!

Rodney did an incredible job DJ’ing our wedding! His professionalism and experience was top notch. From the moment we hired him up until the end of the wedding night everything went extremely smooth. He listened to our request and put together a killer playlist, even grandma was out there dancing! He truly cared about the subtle details and showed that he wanted to make our wedding experience perfect. We got tons of compliments throughout the night on how great Rodney was and it really set the stage for a perfect wedding. We would HIGHLY recommend Rodney if you plan to get married in Mammoth.
I attached a photo here for you if you want to use, but since we haven’t gotten our photos back we don’t really have any back of dancing and all that. If you want to wait for a better dancing / partying photo I will send one off you to as soon as we get them.

We were extremely happy with Rodney O’s DJ’ing of our daughter’s wedding, September 2018 at Convict Lake Resort in Mammoth Lakes, CA. Leading up to the wedding, DJ Rodney O gave our daughter and (now) husband a detailed questionnaire about the music they wanted at their ceremony and reception with both specific songs/artists as well as overall tastes. DJ Rodney O did a fantastic job meeting their expectations. They wanted a DJ who knew how to keep the party going without inserting themselves into the party. DJ Rodney O set the tone that they had requested and kept the dance floor going. The music level was perfect – not too loud but loud enough to keep the energy level high.
Rodney O was very good with communication and returned emails promptly. He set the sound for both the ceremony and reception and everything went smoothly. We received many compliments on our DJ. It was a mix of young and older people and all enjoyed the mix!

The DJ was amazing through out our entire wedding planning process, he responded to emails within 24 hours if not sooner. DJ Rodney was early to our reception and fully set up and ready to rock when we got there. He provided extra mics (my sister in law sang for us) at our request. He sent out a song request list. We did not provide great detail and he still played our favorite songs and got everyone on the dance floor! Overall amazing experience highly recommend DJ Rodney!!

“After getting some wedding DJ recommendations for the reception in the Mammoth Lakes area by various people we contacted Rodney, who came highly recommended. Rodney was great to work with made all communications very easy and low-stress, an idea not common with wedding planning.
Rodney arranged a meeting where we could discuss the music, environment and even offered to provide additional lighting and audio services. Rodney was personable and easy to work with. He even offered a variety of recommendations and ideas based on his experience with other weddings. I was a little concerned about booking a wedding DJ so early in the planning process but Rodney continued to keep in contact via email, which made us confident we had picked the right DJ.
A few weeks out from the wedding, Rodney even contacted me by email to not only see how we were doing in the planning but make sure everything was going as planned and see if we needed to make any changes.
When the wedding date came, which seemed to happen in the blink of an eye, Rodney was constantly in touch with me by phone to ensure everything would go “seamless”, as he put it…and it did.
I should mention we didn’t really have a set idea of how the music should go, as far as genres and pace. Rodney said he would mix a variety of music to please everyone and, at the reception, he did just that.
Rodney followed up on his word and the music can only be described as he put it, “seamless”. Everyone had a great time. During the speeches, my best man apparently needed some special music queued for his speech. He spoke to Rodney just before the reception and Rodney provided the music my best man needed to embarrass me in front of everyone and did a great job.
Overall, Rodney’s professionalism and DJ ability made our evening the best party we could have hoped for. Even weeks after the wedding, people tell me what a great time they had on the dance floor. We even had a few DJs and “music people” at the wedding and were not surprised to hear them say our DJ was “on point”.
Thanks Rodney. We had a great time and look forward to coming up soon to have a beer and do a little relaxing now that it’s all done.”

He was also our DJ for our wedding reception at The Eatery in Mammoth Mountain. He got the party going and kept it going until the very end. He even helped us with timeline and keeping everyone on track, from speeches to cake cutting. He’s a great MC. Rodney did a great job of feeling out the crowd and everyone was dancing the whole time. Everyone had a great time and Rodney has a great variety of music and listens to your requests. We are still talking about the great time everyone had.
Rodney is professional with great sounding equipment and lights! He offers a very friendly and easy to work with attitude. He’s quick to respond and was extremely helpful with all the questions we had.
I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding and Rodney played a huge part in the wonderful memories we will forever have.

We cannot say enough about our wonderful experience with Rodneyo! He was incredibly easy to work with and very professional. Choosing wedding music proved to be our most difficult challenge. Rodney provided great advise and responded promptly to all my inquires. His equipment is top of the line, sound quality was amazing, and his ability to MC our reception was AWESOME!! The music flowed perfectly, from the guests arrival at the ceremony, to the moment the reception ended. He kept our guests dancing all night! Rodney listened to our taste and tailored his play list to meet our requests. We allowed him creative freedom, and boy did he deliver the best music based on our style! I understand that you are considering DJ Rodney O for your wedding at Benton Hot Springs. Benton is a special place, but requires a lot of logistical planning, off-the-grid thinking, and great energy.
I feel that Rodney has all that and more.
We have worked with him at similar outdoor venues, including Sierra Meadows Ranch, Hayden Cabin, and beyond….during wind storms, rain and snow storms, scheduling challenges, etc.…..and as soon as the music starts, the guests have not noticed those glitches. He keeps the party going and is great to work with. His music choices are bang-on and exactly what was discussed with the clients during their consultations. He is flexible and knows how to improvise.
We are very selective about making recommendations, and our standards are high.
I think you will be very happy with Rodney, both before your event, and at your event.
